“A year ago, I struggled to cycle 80km without being out of breath - now I’m an Ironman!”
I asked Joe to coach me for my first full distance Ironman. Prior to the Ironman, I’d only ever completed one full marathon, and had no experience in cycling or swimming (I’d never had a swimming lesson before). I had no clue where to start with swimming and cycling, and started training with Joe across the 3 disciplines.
Not only did I gain lots of confidence in swimming and cycling as a result of the training plans Joe wrote for me weekly, Joe was also able to adapt my training around my knee injury and my demanding job as a teacher. I completed my first ever full distance Ironman in 12 hours and 13 minutes, over an hour quicker than I imagined.

Joe started coaching me around a year ago after a period of time out of triathlon.
I wanted someone to help me regain my fitness but in a way that did not risk injury.
Joe took a steady approach to build fitness gradually working towards some specific goals.
We started off working towards a half marathon and then back into a sprint and then olympic distance triathlon.
I have been super happy with Joe coaching me, we speak regularly about training and goals for the future.
I’m looking to do a couple of 70.3 races and a full distance Ironman next year. We have already spoken about training around work and life and what the mini goals throughout the year should be in the lead up to these events.- Andrew

When I started working with Joe, I had never run consistently and struggled to complete even 1K without stopping. Just eight months later, thanks to the training plan Joe tailored for me, I ran a marathon and finished with the drive to do more.
His coaching is brilliant, he combines knowledge with a flexible approach that works around my busy life, adjusting sessions for work, travel and other commitments without overwhelming me.
Since then, we’ve focused on improving my 5K and 10K times with pace and heart rate training, and now we’re aiming for the ultimate goal: an Ironman.With Joe’s support, what once seemed impossible now feels within reach. I couldn’t ask for a better coach.

Joe’s coaching really helped me with my preparation for L’Etape du Tour, the biggest cycling challenge I had ever taken on.
It was really helpful that sessions were rescheduled according to my availability which meant I ended up never missing a session and by the end of my training, I’d increased my FTP by 19%!
Whilst I’d tapered for events in the past, I’d never done it to such good effect; the tapering sessions planned by Joe meant that on the day of the event I felt like I had great legs and I managed the Hors Categories climb with far greater ease than I’d thought I would.I’m already planning to ride l’Etape in 2026 and will definitely be working with Joe as my coach once again.
